Are we ready for the scrunchie to come back?

My best friend and world renown cake baker Ashley "Ashlicious" Davidson posted a little something on my FB wall today.  It was something I was not prepared for, nor was I quite sure how to deal with this news.

http://www.facebook.com/l.php?u=http%3A%2F%2Fwww.glamour.com%2Fbeauty%2Fblogs%2Fgirls-in-the-beauty-department%2F2011%2F07%2Fscrunchies-are-back-like-for-r.html&h=NAQAd32uT

Apparently, the scrunchie is back.  Go ahead to Glamour.com and read it for yourself.  Glamour's crack team reports that fine retailers from http://www.americanapparel.net/ to http://www.urbanoutfitters.com/ are stocking and actually selling the scrunchie.  Is this the end for me?  Am I now officially too old to shop at these stores?  Should I just go ahead and apply for my Chico's card now? (no, Dave Ramsey http://www.daveramsey.com/ would kill me.)

This is from today, folks.  Seriously.
Whitney could possibly pull this look off.  If anyone could, it would be her.  She is the true ShopGirl on this team.  If you recall, I am just the lady trying to not wear sweats everyday.  Which, by the way, is working out for me.  None of them fit.  I find tent-like dresses to be more appropriate at this stage.  I digress.  Me, I would be that fat pregnant lady at Wal-Mart still wearing her scrunchie from 1995.  Someone would take my picture and post it to http://www.peopleofwalmart.com/,  not realizing how en vouge I actually was.

I know I promised my next blog would be about a fun crafty way to hang your jewelry, but this was breaking news.  I am sure you understand.

Whatever Happened with the Navy Blue Dresses? And other pics I liked!

So, our first challenge, (which, on a side note, you readers have not submitted very many challenges so don't hesitate...)  finding navy blue dresses for a bridal party...

Here is how the party actually turned out!  Big shout out to Lang Thomas Photography.  He did a really good job of making my house look like some kind of model home for hosting wedding parties!

Different shades and cuts all looking good together!

Those nude heels looked great on everyone and really helped my short legs look longer but man, did they make standing in soft ground tough!

We all choose our own pearls to wear and of course I rocked out the Stella & Dot Charlotte Necklace
www.stelladot.com/meghantinker

Cutest little bride ever!  (the dress had pockets, which I love!)

Belly and big Stella & Dot Vintage Cluster Ring!

Just a shout out to KY!

Stay tuned, in my next post I will be showing how to make your own supercute jewelry storage!

Fall Fever!

Do you know what I hate?  When it is 97 degrees in Louisville with a heat index of 500 and all the magazines I get and all the stores I go to are featuring all the Fall Lines.  Seriously.  My make up is melting off my face and you want me to think about jeans and a fur-lined hooded vest?  Another thing is, I love summer clothes so much that it is always kind of depressing for me to start thinking about sweaters.  It is way more fun to buy sun dresses on clearance than even think about a full price jacket.

This year I have a little bit of Fall Fever though.  OK I have a full on, Stella & Dot induced, (ok and maybe a little bit dilerious from the heat and my preggo body) raging Fall Fever!  I am so excited about the new line.  It is GorGEOUS!!  The best thing about Fall jewelry.  It does not make you any hotter to wear it now.  OK, I take that back, this jewelry will make you HOTTER, just not hotter! wink, wink.  I am going to post the selections that I already bought samples of and then next week when they are in I am going to pair them with outfits!  Take a look and then go to my website www.stelladot.com/meghantinker to check out the rest of the new line.  I promise you will see something you like.   If you are like me and you like too many things to buy them all for yourself, give me a call and we will put a Trunk Show on the books and you can get some treats for free.

Sales! Sales! Sales! Fancy Sales, Fancy Sales, Lots and lots of Sales!!

OK, when I had more time on my hands, pre-Will, I was obsessed with signing up to win things online.   http://winit.intouchweekly.com/ was one of my favorites.  This week you can win anything from shopping sprees, vacations, to cameras, or jewelry.  Basically any magazine website has sweepstakes.  So if that is your thing by all means, http://www.redbook.com/ is giving away a TV, a Mexican vacation, as well as some boring stuff like flip flops and water bottles.  http://www.luckymag.com/ has 37 fashion and beauty giveaways including these saucy shades from Donna karen NY.
"Did you ever win anything?" you may be asking yourself...  Well, yes, but no big prizes.  I won a lip gloss here and there, a set of hair care products.  But really it was a way to entertain myself while I was working at 4 Flights.

Now, that my free time is a very limited resource I prefer to know I am going to get something I sign up for!  That is where the discount websites come in.  Most of these offer boutique or designer labels for discount prices.  The sales usually last for a few days and once something is gone it is gone. Some require an invite so I have included my invite link for all below!  I am sure some of you have seen some of them but here are some of my favorites:

Gilt Group

http://www.gilt.com/invite/mylink10262

They have one of my favs, Shoshanna, right now for well over 50% off!  Gilt has sales for WOmen, Men, Kids, Travel, and Home.  Intriguing fact about Gilt is that they have their HUGE warehouse in Shephardsville, KY.  I would be SOOOO excited if they opened an outlet.  I will keep you posted!!

A $675 Judith Ripka necklace for $405

I couldn't resist showing this similar style off my website for $59...
www.stelladot.com/meghantinker

Ideeli

Ideeli also has Women's, Men's, Kids, Home, and Travel sales.  The best deals come during the Red sales.  This is when they sell off all the leftovers from past sales at even deeper discounts!  Right now they are featuring sales from Juicy Coutour, Adrienne Vittadini, Rebecca Beeson (boutique line of T's, cami's, and cotton dresses), and check out theses cuties from Steve Madden....  $69 shoes for $29

Wouldn't these be PERFECT to bring to Derby for your tired feet at the end of the day?

Totsy

Totsy is mostly kids stuff.  Clothes, toys, excercise equipment for mom's, diaper bags, etc.  I am pretty excited about a few of the sales coming soon including Michael Kors sunglasses, Janie Maternity, and Summer book club.  I did fiund this little number by I Dream of Johnny to be awfully handsome!  Origionally $32 now $17.50

HauteLook

http://www.hautelook.com/invite/331739

HauteLook has an amazing denim sale right now!  Paige, 7 for all Mankind, J Brand, and Joe's all for more than half off.  I have a hard time buying jeans online but if you know how a cetain brand or style fits, jump on there and snag a deal!  This site is similar to ideeli, and gilt.  Right now Ella Moss, Joie, and Jessica Simpson Shoes are on sale among many others.  I found this summery handbag from Romeo & Juliet Cotoure for $55 marked down from $139

Wouldn't it look cute with your khaki trench coat? Coming soon they have some sales I am excited about... Sunglass Blowout, Watch Blowout, Rock & Republic to name a few.

These are a few more of my favs... Happy deal shopping

finishing touch ...

Well, when you're dealing with two names like Manolo and Balenciaga it's hard to find jewelry to do them justice ... but I am giving it my best shot.  Let me begin by saying to the bride to be, BRAVO on your choices ;) Here are my suggestions to finish off this amazing ensemble, I found them from some of my favorite online jewelry stores, charmandchain.com, maxandchloe.com and anthropologie.com

charmandchain.com
$145

charmandchain.com
$182

charmandchain.com
$190

I'd pair these bold earrings with a soft bracelet or ring.  The shoes and earrings together will definitely make a statement "I am a confident bride to be!"
maxandchloe.com
rings $70

maxandchloe.com $95
bracelets
antropologie.com
$38
bracelets

I do have other options, if these aren't what you are looking for.  A more subtle, still elegant, option.
maxandchloe.com
$40

maxandchloe.com
$98

With these earrings you could go with a bold ring or bracelet.  The shoes are your statement piece, the jewelry will compliment it, not fight for the attention.
maxandchloe.com
$123
maxandchloe.com
$100
maxandchloe.com
$80

maxandchloe.com
$188

Hope the bride to be likes what I found!  Would love to hear comments, even if I nothing I found will work ;) I will keep searching!

This is Meg adding a few things I found.  How about these beauties from Oscar de la Renta...

The turquoise ring Whit found along with my obsession with fuchsia and turquoise ever since Cameron Diaz wore the out fit below inspired a few more picks...

Amrita Singh- Vilma
$100 http://www.amritasingh.com/
I love this Indian jewelry designer!  You could not go wrong with a pick from her collection!

Melinda Maria
Mosaic Drop
$105 http://www.maxandchloe.com/
Of course, that combo might not be exactly what the bride was going for so here are a few more options...

These two are from Kendra Scott.  Above is the  "I Do" (how perfect!)  for $100
Below are the "Nyla" $71.25

The next two are from Swarovski.  The first are the "Nighttime" for $165 and the next are the "Noon" for $90

I couldn't help but post my favorite thing from the Stella & Dot Spring Collection!  It would look great with the shoes but needs a simple stud earring to go with it.

The Bombolea

I will keep posting if I find anything at any local spots I check out this weekend!
